Footprint BC’s kayak single-day-, multi-day and expedition-style tours in and beyond Wildly Beautiful Desolation Sound and the Copeland Islands will be an experience to remember. Your Sea Kayak Guide Alliance of BC (SKGABC) certified guide(s) will coach you through all aspects of a sea kayak adventure, from start to finish. We provide all the kayak- and camping specific gear and equipment, so you only have to bring your own personal clothing and gear; which is outlined in a Gear-List. Our lunches and meals are home-made, fresh and locally sourced where possible. We can cater to dietary preferences and restrictions with ease. In 2024 we are going into our 18th season of showing guests our fantastic back-yard: BC’s Sunshine Coast – Powell River – Lund area, we know about the best routes and places to camp. We also can highly customize your tour. Whether you are looking for a specific date, theme or even a drop-off or pick-up by watertaxi. Private sea kayak tours are available upon request.
Throughout these years we’ve hosted families, groups of friends, professional film crews, the LGTBQ+ community, team building events (a.o. for the Canadian Armed Forces), school groups and special tours for physically less abled guests. Our focus will remain on small groups for our general tours. Specific requests and personal interests from our guests are always highly appreciated, from wildlife to scenery and more.
Footprint BC’s Paddle Canada Certified Basic-, Level-1 and Level-2 courses are catered toward the novice- and more experienced kayaker. Whether you would like to start renting or maybe even owning a kayak, these courses offer a wealth of knowledge. This will provide you with the confidence and on- & off-water skills to safely plan and execute a successful kayak tour. You will become a leader on the water!
Sea Kayaking is a ‘fun-tastic’ way to explore and two of British Columbia’s most unique and scenic kayak destinations: Desolation Sound Marine Park and the Copeland Islands Marine Park. Quite often we will be followed by curious seals, playful river otters and sometimes even by an impressive sea lion. With a bit of luck we could encounter a pod of Killer Whales or even a Humpback Whale in Desolation Sound or in the Salish Sea. Throughout the seasons many bird species choose this area to forage or breed. Frequent sightings of bald eagles, various ducks and shore-birds are not uncommon. We focus on SMALL GROUPS and personal attention. Professionally guided, unique kayak tours and lessons in first class, made in BC, kayaks!
Footprint’s Instructors are Paddle Canada Certified. Footprint’s courses are offered in Powell River / Lund and Nanaimo. Whether it your first time in a sea-kayak or whether you have sea-water running through your veins; there’s always a new skill to learn or an old one to brush up on. We focus on small classes and we mostly work with two seasoned instructors during our Basic-, Level 1- and Level 2 Sea Kayak Courses. Our courses are hands-on and challenging. But we’ll also have a lot of fun.
Through our close collaboration with a Receptive Tour Operator, Canada Jay Travel Ltd., you can easily add accommodation(s) and other bookings to your Footprint kayak tour.
